It's Time to Move Beyond Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders gives a critique of Dr. West while clinging to the Democratic party
Senator Bernie Sanders is clapping back at Dr. West for... doing exactly what he's telling democrats to do? "...have the guts to take on corporate greed and the massive levels of income and wealth inequality that we see today" If it's being done via 3rd party by Dr. West, shouldn't Bernie get behind him? As far as policy positions are considered, both Sanders and West share many ideological similarities and critiques of the system.
However, one thing is starkly noticable: Dr. West has evolved in his opinion of Biden and more largely, the Democratic party. Dr. West has been more critical of the fecklessness and widely milquetoast nature of the Democratic party for the remainder of the Biden administration. He even goes so far as to accurately call the Progressive wing of the party “window dressing”.
Is there something that Dr. West realizes that Senator Sanders doesn't? There's a part of me that is been giving Sanders the side-eye for a while now and is consistently confirming my suspicions that it's not ignorance that he's operating from. In my view it appears to be that he is an agent of controlled opposition on behalf of the Democratic party in order to keep the status quo in place. The driving force as to why he's engaged in this sheepherding tactic makes me believe something nefarious but I could be wrong… Or could it be
blind loyalty due to brainwashing that we all have been subject to over the course of our lives in by means of corporate media? Is it purposeful without ill intent to make sure we side on the lesser evil? Could Bernie Sanders be the proverbial Sultan that's hypnotized by Jafar into doing the bidding of the Democratic establishment? There's a part of me that says to be kind that wants to believe that.
Here's a fact: Bernie Sanders IS an establishment Democrat with an “I” in front of his name. He's made that fact abundantly clear over the last 4 years; and like our treatment of the Democratic party, we must move beyond Bernie Sanders to a movement that will actually improve our material conditions on a fundamental level. This is a sentiment that Dr. West is touching on and is becoming more successful with each day his campaign progresses… Which scares the Democratic party.
Now we have Sanders giving critique to West for doing what he says we should do in regards to the wealth inequality and corporate control of our socioeconomic order. This critique is counterintuitive because it only leads people back to a party that desires to keep the system in place on behalf of the corporate dictators & wealthy. This means one unavoidable truth: Bernie Sanders is a proxy for the corporate class. As such, his pleas and critiques are to be unheard and ignored. If we are to improve the material needs of our nation for poor and working people, we must go beyond the vision of a Bernard Sanders to something greater.
This critique from Senator Sanders to Dr. West just shows that it's about partisanship rather than policy. Because he's telling us to "take on corporate greed and the massive levels of income and wealth inequality" only through the ineffective & inattentive Democratic party. While there is some appreciation for what he's done in the past, he has remained too stagnant for us to continue to walk beside him into pushing for a truly egalitarian and progressive society.
The best hope we have is to depend on ourselves collectively and use the message of Dr. West’s campaign to build class consciousness and solidarity with the proletariat so that we can organize for a fair society via dual power and mutual aid. I'm hopeful for this outcome and have faith in all of us in this endeavor.
