My First Stream Of Consciousness
My thoughts on individualism, collectivism and life on this planet.
What is life? What is the purpose of it? The purpose of life is to live it. It's really not that complex, yet we treat it as if it's some weight station on the road to something greater. However, life CAN be better. We just have to collectively come together to make it better. Togetherness is what will make life better. We suffer in this life because we are living it separately. At least that's what I think.
Existing in a world that operates on collective action means that we humans (who are part of this world) use the same modus operandi as our home. Our living home. Going against the grain leads to our detriment and demise because it's unnatural to do so. In reality, Individualism has led us to nowhere. Our greatest achievements have been the results of cooperation, collaboration and collective action. I know nothing of any individual act that improved the world so drastically that it made the material conditions and lives of sentient beings better or easier to thrive.
Capitalism is individualistic. It's a work-for-my-own-benefit type of system which throws others to the wayside without any regard to others (by "others" I mean plant and animal life in addition to humans).
It's a cancer on society. It grows infinitely, consuming the entirety of its host until nothing is left and then it itself dies. It requires infinite growth on a planet with finite resources which includes us as part of its daily consumption. This is unsustainable and a hazard to our very existence to allow this cancer to continue. It festers and grows and we see the results of it and the carnage it leaves behind daily.
Think about your problems, how many of Your problems are a result directly or indirectly because of a lack of resources? Why? Because capitalism demands and requires you to expend your finite resource, time, to obtain resources that are already given for free on this planet or require some process to create but isn't necessarily needed for the profit motive to continue.
We are constantly told to share as children but then we are told to "STOP" as adults because this system sees sharing as a negative trait. It's seen as negative because it interferes with the profit motive. This is the drive of greed. You can't have it all if you have to share, especially when sharing is part of the societal norm and you feel ostracized and looked down upon because of your greed. So instead, they made greed be part of our society. To be greedy is seen as "productive" or "resourceful" and so societal expectations reflect that.
To allow a system in place that exacerbates the very grotesques of our nature is masochistic and harmful. A rational person would want to put the opposite system in place, one that encourages sharing, collectivism, equality, equity and cooperation.
One way to make the world into a more just, equitable and equal society is by operating in a more egalitarian way in our own lives with each other and by joining like-minded people to create an ecosystem that helps us to do this more. This is called "organizing". It also shows others what's possible outside of this capitalist system and endears them to a more just way of life. It's leading by example and showing its benefits to others on the outside. We warmly invite, treat with kindness & compassion these economic aliens and then they assimilate to the new system that's established. The group grows and makes others want to join. This is not without consequence because the capitalist system sees this as a threat to their power. But this is how you KNOW it's working, because it's a threat to the cancer. This first has to be achieved through educating fellow humans about what's going on so that they can at least be informed of the hazard they are currently engaged in.
Our responsibility is to warn all others so they have the chance to escape the system. As a more egalitarian society grows, a new power emerges, one that casts off the unsavory nature of human beings and uplifts our core virtues and is inculcated into our communities and new social construct. This makes equity and equality a norm. I just hope this happens sooner than later. But I do have faith that it will happen. As long as love for humanity exists, it is inevitable.
Whoa! Thank you so much! That means a lot and I am trying my best to be a better communicator for the people. I go through a lot of the same things and I just want people to know that they're not alone and they are understood in this space. I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement and I will continue to hone my skills so that I can leave the world better than I found it! Love and solidarity!
Sounds very interesting! Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback. I have a lot of improvements to make but I hope to be a better communicator for the poor and working people who are in the same boat as myself.
